Honeymoon Suite

The Bakwena honeymoon suite is an incentive to take romance to a new level and boldly claim ‘I do!’ Celebrate

Responsible tourism that supports local communities through employment and local trade, Bakwena is proudly Batswana and a testament to 50 years of independence! All our staff, including ourselves, are from nearby villages and wherever possible materials used in the lodge are sourced locally.
As Bakwena lodge is situated outside the Chobe National Park we have the advantage of river frontage and a neighbouring local village. Rather than an isolated experience in a remote camp our guests have the opportunity to meet the people of Botswana. Visit schools, go on village tours and get to know the real Africa whilst enjoying its abundant wildlife.
Built on the ethos of “Treading lightly upon the earth” Bakwena endeavours to maintain a low carbon footprint. Home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife living in one of the world’s largest conservation areas, makes daily environmental choices the pivotal basis for preserving Chobe’s ecosystem.

Absolutely amazing – perfect for honeymoon. One in a lifetime experience!
We were blown away by our experience at Bakwena Lodge. This was our first trip to Botswana and it was our honeymoon. We could not have chosen a better lodge to stay at! The service was phenome-nal, the rooms were top class and the food was delicious. The friendly, accommodating nature of all the staff members really stuck out for us, and we were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. There is so much attention to detail from the rooms, to the front of house and to the presentation of the food. Our every need was catered to and we cannot thank the staff at Bakwena Lodge enough for our incredible stay :))

If the frenetic pace of work has left you with no time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life like a candle lit dinner under a star-studded sky with yours truly, then you will love our romantic dinner for two on a private terrace.

Our grounds have come a long way since the original football field on the day of purchase! Now an indigenous riverine woodland we have regular visitors and permanent residents in the form of bush buck, mongoose, guinea fowl and too many birds to mention!

In keeping with our ‘Treading lightly upon the earth’ motto we have designed a swimming pool befitting of our green status. Filtered by means of plants and a bed of gravel enjoy a chlorine free dip alongside the life-giving Chobe river on its journey to the Zambezi as it creates one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls.

As far as possible we maintain a chemical free zone at Bakwena from treatments on wooden surfaces choosing natural oils and plant extracts to ‘green paints’ on walls and biodegradable laundry detergents, kitchen products and soaps etc. This includes our insect patrol consisting of a number of chickens who take pest control upon themselves by nibbling on unsuspecting bugs!
